Creepy Story

We are not in Utah anymore and it's apparent in sooo many ways. On our way to church yesterday we drove through downtown Kansas City, Missouri where many of the houses were boarded up and businesses were run down. It was a little bit scary and definitely not a place you'd want to take a Sunday walk. We passed a gas station where we saw a white camaro parked there with the door wide open and a man laying about fifteen feet from the car on the parking lot. It creeped me out and I just assumed (hoped) that the guy had way too much to drink and was laying there. I thought we should stop but I didn't dare because you never know and we had Brinklee and we should've but we didn't. I was blogging tonight and had the news on and all the sudden the white camaro that we saw, the gas station that we passed now taped off full of police officers, and the mug shot of a really creepy guy was on the tv saying that sunday morning there was a homicide and this man had been shot! I could not believe what I was seeing! I was there, and was beginning to feel guilty for not doing anything but then again glad that I didn't stop because I would have been so scared and we could've stepped into a really bad situation and put ourselves in danger. We are definitely not in "happy valley" anymore! It's a whole new world out here.

We've had a couple scary experiences too! I'm so sorry that you had to see that. There is nothing worse than having that security taken away from you. I remember that feeling well. But, the good thing is - your not in happy valley and all the experiences you are going to have will be new. I love it! And I think you will too. You seem like such an adventurous woman! So how long have you been there?! Are you all settled in?!

Thanks for your comment on my blog. You are such a sweetheart, and we really do miss you too. We are so excited!!!

Also, thanks for posting those pictures of Liberty Jail on your blog. I have wanted to see Liberty really bad for the past couple of years - and since that isn't going to be a reality it was great to be able to experience it through you!

Holy cow, that is crazy! I don't know what I would have done if we were in your shoes and if we had stopped...crazy, crazy!

I'm glad you were able to make a getaway trip too! I'm sure there will be many more throughout the summer.
