We learned so much about the pioneers work ethic and how they made everything from 100% scratch. It was amazing. They taught us how they made their clothes from taking the wool off the sheep to separating each hair individually, then spinning it into yarn, then sewing it with needles etc. There was more to it than that but holy cow! We really take for granted just driving to the store and picking one out and buying it. Then we learned about how they made bread every day and the kind of brick ovens they used. They would soak a wooden board all night long in water so it was wet enough to use as their oven door and not start fire. They would test the temp of the oven by how many seconds they could leave their arms in there etc. It was a huge process that they did every single day.
